We were talking to Dick Vitale the other day (no big thing, he's a neighbor) and I explained to him how Jennifer was expecting our first child in November. "Oh, congratulations," he said. I continued, "My wife's a Jayhawk and I'm a Volunteer, so who do you think the baby should root for?" He didn't hesitate. "Jayhawks, baby!" OK, chalk one up for Rock Chalk Jayhawk, straight from Dickie V.
For the record, Vitale is a resident of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and he eats at his favorite restaurant, The Broken Egg, every day he's in town. We've seen him twice there now.
